This was a really difficult task, to choose the best concert I'd ever been to. I've been to so many I've lost count, and just about every one was brilliant and without fault. So, to choose just one seems like an insurmountable task. There was one, that just blew everyone away that was there. I can't remember the year, it's a distant memory, but Scorpions were playing at Newcastle City Hall and there was a rumour floating around that Michael Schenker was going to make a guest appearance to play alongside his brother Rudolph.

A few numbers in and the audience started chanting "Michael", "Michael" to which Klaus Meine took to the mike and announced that Michael was not appearing as he had to go back to Germany into rehab because of drugs. The audience fell silent and Klaus said, "This doesn't mean we're not going to have a good time, so let's rock this place" and they immediately burst into 'Another Piece of Meat' - the audience went wild and the music got more raunchy and louder. It seemed like they were going to blow the roof off, the atmosphere was more than electric, it was super-charged.

I almost got thrown out, because everyone in front of me was jumping up and down, blocking my view, so I stood on the arms of the chair allocated to me and I bust one of the arms bouncing to the music. I got a stern look from a bounce, who wagged his finger at me and motioned for me to get down. Likewise, I complied and when I looked over at him sheepishly, he just grinned back. I reckon he understood my passion and emotive response to the music. It was a brilliant concert and one that sticks in my mind. Loved every moment of it and have seen Scorpions many times since - one of my favourite bands.
